Rachel Carson and her Ecological Genocide

Over a hundred million African people have died since 1972 as a direct result of the malaria virus. Why the sudden jump in malaria? Rachel Carson's 1972 novel Silent Spring was a bestseller, detailing the harmful environmental effects of using the pesticide DDT, which had practically eliminated malaria. However, after her book sparked the environmentalist movement that caused the banning of DDT. Without this cheap, effective pesticide, millions of Africans have now lost their lives to the increase in malaria, and typhus as well. Dr. Wenceslaus Kilama, Malaria Foundation International Chairman has said it is "like loading up Boeing 747 airlines each day and deliberately crashing them into Mt. Kilimanjaro". The resurgence of diseases that were eradicated 50 years ago, and are now worse than ever, is a major point of concern. Former Surgeon General and retired U.S. Navy Vice Admiral Dr. Harold M. Koenig stated that when used correctly, DDT can in fact be safe for humans and for the environment.
It turns out, DDT is not as harmful to the environment as Carson claimed it was in her book. According to tests conducted by Dr. Philip Butler, the director of the Fish and Wildlife Service's Sabine Island Research Laboratory, "92 percent of DDT and its metabolites disappear from the environment after 38 days".  Testing has also concluded that "DDT is so safe that no symptoms have been observed among the 130,000 spraymen or the 535 million inhabitants of sprayed houses [over the past 29 years of its existence]. No toxicity was observed in the wildlife of the countries participating in the malaria campaign."
The only reason that so many lives are being lost to these infectious diseases today is because of Carson and her predictions that DDT would eventually wipe out the human race through causing cancer in the population. Carson came to this conclusion by arguing that the rise in cancer rates from 1940-1960 was proof that DDT was the cause because spraying began in 1940 and continued. However, when looking at the Center for Disease Control data from the 1900-1960,her theory is way off the mark because cancer rates started to skyrocket in direct correlation to a surge of tobacco use. Yet, despite Carson's research inconsistencies and dearth of solid scientific evidence, DDT was eventually banned in the U.S.
If Carson's modern day crusaders are really concerned about saving lives and helping developing countries, then must allow DDT to be used without repercussions.

Mitochondrial Eve

Mitochondrial Eve is the idea that because all mitochondrial information is inherited from mothers, therefore it can be traced back to one one common ancestor that would embody the characteristics of all different ethnic types and is call Mitochondrial Eve. She is estimated to have lived about 200,000 years ago in modern day Eastern Africa. These are examples of the different lineages of ethnic groups that have diverged from her:

 Masai African

"modern" portrayal of Italians these days

Mexican American

Asian
Greek

Sudanese

Genetic Diversity is the result of genetic mutations over time, differences in chromosomal makeup, and mutations during mitosis and meiosis. These mutations can cause significant changes in the appearance of a ethnic group, while another one living in a country over will have no exposure to this, thus resulting in genetic diversity and differences. In another 1,000 years we will probably see even greater amounts of diversity since there is a lot more travel, and people of different ethnic groups settling in different places.

Amphioxus

Amphioxi, also known as lancelets, are small marine animals, seldom larger than 8 cm long, They resemble small, slender fish without eyes or definite heads. It has the basic chordate features: a notochord, gill slits, and a dorsal nerve cord. They have very basic digestive and circulatory systems, and are probably a representative of the most basic type of life form. Life for an organism is defined as being able to maintain homeostasis, be able to undergo metabolism, possess a capacity to grow, respond to stimuli, undergo reproduction, and be able to adapt to environmental changes.

Polywater

The United States and the U.S.S.R. had been in competition in the 1950's during what became known as the Cold War. Scientists in both countries were constantly trying to outdo each other with new developments in science and weaponry. In the late 1960's, Nikolai Fedyakin was a Russian scientist who was performing experiments with water and stumbled upon what he thought was a new form of water. It was thicker, like syrup, had a higher viscosity, and remained liquid at temperatures below water's normal freezing point and boiled at a much higher temperature.Another scientist, Boris Deryagin, took over Fedyakin’s research, and was also able to produce this substance. He reported his findings in science journals, and began to present his work to other scientists. Researchers in the United States attempted to replicate his results. The U.S. Bureau of Standards examined a sample in 1969 and determined that it was a new form of water. They came to believe that the water had polymerized, or formed long chains or rings of molecules, and named the substance polywater. Polywater samples were soon subjected to much closer scrutiny, including chemical tests and examination. Every single sample began to show some contamination with impurities of various kinds— polywater was nothing more than tiny particles of other substances suspended in ordinary water. When the original experiments were repeated, but with extraordinary care given to cleaning the test apparatus, polywater could no longer be produced. The case of polywater shows us how the desire to believe in a new phenomenon can sometimes overshadow the demand for solid, well-examined evidence.

Fake Website

http://www.hetracil.com/index.html

This website claims that it is a "cure" for "Behavior Effeminism and Male Homosexuality". The website presents itself as a standard commercial/ advertisement like the ones we see on the television or in magazines. Although to some Americans who truly believe that homosexuality is a disease, this may seem like a legit site, it is not real whatsoever. There is no such thing as a pill for acting too effeminate or being homosexual, because it is not truly an illness, it is a part of an individuals personality. So even though this website presents itself very professionally and looks extremely believable, upon further reading and inspection it is clear that it is a fake website.
